Copyright notices

How to send a notice

If something shared here infringes your copyright, send a notice through the report form on its page.
  1. Open the file or folder page

Go to the public page of the file or folder you're reporting.

  2. Choose “Report this file” or “Report this folder”

The link is at the bottom of the page. It works without an account and without JavaScript.

  3. Pick “Copyright (DMCA)” as the reason

Describe the work you own, where the original can be found, and why this copy isn't authorized. Text only: the form doesn't take attachments, so don't paste passwords or private links.

  4. Leave your email address

Copyright reports need one, so a reviewer can reply. You'll get a receipt number when the report is received.

What happens next

What the review does, and what it doesn't.
  • A person reviews every report. A report on its own never removes anything.
  • When a notice is validated, the page answers “not found” and shows no details about the file or folder. Downloads of it stop as well.
  • Your email address stays private. The publisher doesn't see it, and reviewers open it only with a recorded reason. We never email it automatically.
  • The receipt confirms that we have your report. It doesn't give access to the review or to the file.

If your file was removed

For publishers who believe a removal was a mistake.

A removal after a copyright notice can be reviewed again. The decision is recorded, and lifting it needs a different reviewer from the one who made it.

Until the review ends, the page keeps answering “not found”.
